Hornbill couple

Last month I was walking up the stairs at work and saw something moving outside on the trees and guess what??! There were two hornbills up close, hanging out on the leaves of the weird trees. Of course me being me, I couldn't resist from taking photos of them. Unfortunately, my camera phone was crap (my other phone is still not working *sobsob* ) but I'll have to make do with these. I must've stood there for a good 15 minutes just watching them before they decided to finally fly off. What beautiful creatures!!

Froggy style...froggy...froooooggg

A few day ago or was it last week haha, I released a tree frog back into the wild after keeping it for two nights. Found it in the middle of town at night outside a closed shop. The only reason I noticed it was because it hopped real far in front of me while I was walking - and of course me being me, I got real excited about it because it's soo hard for ME to find tree frogs here, like proper tree frogs..the ones I always find around our house are those common toads and the banded bullfrogs. The last time I found one of these tree frogs was hmm well years ago. I think I have photos of it in my DA somewhere. Anyways I googled and I think the name is the Common Tree Frog, Four-lined Tree Frog or White-lipped Tree Frog (Polypedates leucomystax).

Anyways that night when I finally took it out of the tank for a photo shoot, I had to get my hubby to give me a hand because that frog just would not stay still hahaha. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that frog can jump a distance. You can just imagine how strong those legs are by looking at em (no, not for eating). My hubby had to chase it around and make sure it didn't jump too far up the wall hahaha. Shame I couldn't take photos of it in natural background :s..but at least I got some clear photos of it. :) Hope I find some more of these frogs again one day! I do like em! (Slimy things)

Confused bird

The cutest thing happened a couple of days ago. I was in the car and this bird just perched itself on the side mirror and kept pecking at its reflection a few times hahaha. So cute. After that, it flew off, perched on the side mirror of a different car and did the same thing! hahaha..not sure what the name of the bird is but it was definitely small!

Mudskipper Haven!!

Few days ago I dragged my poor hubby to a river so that I could take photos for my project. While he waited in the car, I braved the blazing hot sun, carrying my heavy camera and nearly jumped out of my skin when a dog barked at me while I was deep in thought. I finally got to the riverbank, and was greeted by the sound of splashes. And to my delight, I saw mudskippers, but not just that, there were some HUGE mudskippers!! At least, the biggest ones I've ever seen in my life!! The ones I usually get to see are small ones, about 2inches long, and I usually thought they were big. And I remember once a friend told me that 2 inches was nothing, and he gestured how big the ones he's seen before were. Which I found hard to believe hahaha. But that day, I saw plenty of giant mudskippers - they must have been like 8 inches long each!! Fat heads, they looked more like fishes!!

I of course got overexcited, msged hubby to come quickly and see the giants, and started clicking away at whatever I saw moved hahaha. Unfortunately I only brought my normal lens with me, so the photos are blurred, but at least you can see the mudskippers and have a general idea about how fat and big they are hahaha. I'm definitely going back there with my other lens for some better photos!!

Aliens have arrived!!!

Hubby spotted a weird looking bug resting on his car the other day. I've never seen anything like this before so of course, yes, I was also excited about it hahaha. I should find out what it's called.

(080509 - a friend told me that it's a shield bug!! After trying to find out which specific type it is on google, and failing, I'm just be content with knowing its a shield bug hahaha)

Sleepy Toby

Yesterday I had to move Toby to a slightly bigger tank cos he managed to reach the top of it and tried to climb out while I was changing his water. He seems to have to grown fast since I first got him!! The cutest thing is that he gets all nervous when I put my hand in the tank and tries to jump everywhere but once I manage to stroke him behind his ears he seems to like it a lot - it's funny watching him stop and close his eyes with his head slanted to the side as if reallly enjoying the rub. Once while I was stroking behind his ear he actually fell asleep!! It took him a while to wake up hahahah what a cute little thing. His eyes are huge!!

Chocolate furry friend

Okay, I'll be honest here - earlier today I was kind of excited to update my blog , but it's 24 past midnite right now, I'm practically half asleep, should be getting my much needed sleep, and yet I'm stuck on my laptop typing this up. I just HAVE to upload something hahaha. So since I've given some fame to my mickeys, I think it's only fair to give some to the hamsters too. The latest photo I took was of the hamster hubby likes, cos it looks like it's wearing a brown helmet and all you can see from afar is its brown furry head bobbing up and down in the tank. Have yet to give it a name. The name Toby still keeps popping up in my head. I can't exactly name it Toby too..can I? Yeah let's call all my pet hamsters and mice Toby. The Toby Clan. The Tobies. Toblerone? ..darn it. Now I'm craving chocolate in the middle of the night. :(

TOBY!!!!

Two days ago, after I came home from work my mom told me that there was a baby rat that they managed to save for me from the backyard (and that there was a black cobra that escaped - I think it was probably going for the rat?). Well...I think it's a rat cos after looking at it, it was as big as my adult mouse, but it hasn't even properly opened its eyes and the ears haven't "stood up" properly yet hehehe the way my baby mice are like. Anyways, when I went to check on it, it was in a bucket, and it was half wet, the poor thing. So just to be quick (cos I wanted to go upstairs and finish my yummy chocolate bar that was waiting for me), I grabbed a small plastic food container and put it in there and ran upstairs to my room where I could inspect it closer (and get my chocolate bar).

Took some photos of it after trying to dry it, such a cute little thing. Eyes hardly open too. While I was looking at it the name TOBY just popped into my mind in big fonts, so of course, I named it Toby!! hahaha..I was initially planning on keeping it overnight then letting it go the next day, but that night I decided that probably it's better if I kept it and try to feed it until it grows a bit older. At first it didn't seem interested in the food I offered it, but last night I saw it nibbling on the dried banana bit, so that's good. This morning when I checked, all the food was gone, so that must only mean good news! :D Only thing I'm worried about is disease..but maybe if it's a baby it won't have any? I'll have to do some research on that.
